Event Description

As urbanization and climate change escalate, land reclamation is becoming a vital strategy in Southeast Asia, offering solutions for flood resilience and agricultural expansion. Major cities like Hong Kong, Singapore, and Manila are racing to reclaim land for economic growth and housing. Notable projects include Singapore’s plan to extend its coastline by 150 kilometers and Hong Kong’s $80 billion Lantau Tomorrow Vision. These initiatives are reshaping coastal regions and fueling growth, despite controversies.

 

Southeast Asia, alongside regions like East Asia, the Middle East, and West Africa, is seeing a surge in land reclamation, particularly for port extensions and luxury developments.
