18 September 2024 Jakarta – The international exhibitions and forums: Indo Water, Indo Waste & Recycling, Indo Renergy & Electric, Indo Security, Indo Firex, and the Indonesia International Smart City (IISMEX) 2024 Expo & Forum were officially opened, hosting 542 exhibitors from 31 countries.

In his remarks during the Opening Ceremony, Managing Director of PT Napindo Media Ashatama highlighted that the three-day event at JIExpo Kemayoran was made possible through close collaboration between Napindo and various government bodies, including the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR), the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, and the National Police of Indonesia (POLRI), as well as support from other ministries, institutions, and relevant associations. "This synergy reflects a shared commitment to advancing critical sectors that support smart city development and related industries," he stated.

Eight national pavilions participated in the event, including those from Indonesia, Austria, China, Germany, South Korea, Singapore, Switzerland, and Turkey. The participation of various countries underscores the importance of this event as an international platform for exchanging ideas, technologies, and the latest innovations. "We encourage visitors to broaden their knowledge and explore further collaboration opportunities. This exhibition offers a direct insight into cutting-edge innovations that can be applied across various sectors, including water technology, waste management and recycling, renewable energy and electricity, security, fire prevention, SAR, disaster management, OHS, and smart city solutions."

Taking place from September 18-20, 2024, at Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo) Kemayoran, the six-exhibition collaboration was officially inaugurated by the Minister of Home Affairs, represented by Dr. Drs. Amran MT, Acting Director General of Regional Administration Development, Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) of Indonesia. In his speech, Amran expressed his high appreciation for the Indonesia International Smart City, Indo Firex, Indo Security, Indo Water, Indo Waste & Recycling, and Indo Renergy 2024 Expo & Forum. Amran remarked, "This international exhibition and forum integrates various industrial sectors and represents a tangible manifestation of the commitment and collaboration between the government and all stakeholders, including academia, industry, society, and media. This initiative aims to create a constructive space for discussion in solving problems, in order to realize the smart city concept across various regions in Indonesia."

Amran further added that the challenges of urban management are becoming increasingly complex as cities strengthen their competitiveness as centers of economic, governmental, industrial, service, and other activities. Therefore, several issues in urban management need more attention. "Often, in urban management, sectoral egos emerge as obstacles to collaboration. Moreover, innovations presented are sometimes not fully realized, and there are high public expectations for the government to provide good services," Amran noted.

In the same forum, Ervan Maksum, Deputy for Infrastructure at the Ministry of National

Development Planning/Bappenas, emphasized, "The Indo Water and Indo Waste & Recycling events reflect the strong commitment to Indonesia's development in the drinking water and sanitation sectors. This event serves as a platform to introduce new technologies in water, waste recycling management, and other fields in addressing current global challenges," Ervan said.

According to Bappenas, this aligns with the development agenda and policies for drinking water and sanitation in the next 20 years, aiming to establish Indonesia as a sovereign archipelagic state. "Safe sanitation forms the foundation of every household's needs. Indonesia's grand vision for 2045 is to achieve 100% access to safe drinking water, 100% urban piped drinking water, and 70% access to safe sanitation," Ervan revealed.
